Vase Life: Day to Day Roses from MR Roses Farm
Vase life depends on several factors, such us: rose variety, weather conditions, shipping conditions (if it was shipped on cold transportation), if the cold chain was not broken, if the box was handled with care while being shipped, and if the rose was hydrated and attended as indicated on the “care instructions” sheet.
Here we wanted to share some pictures of day 1, day 2, and 3 of one of our rose varieties named Circus (bicolor orange and yellow). Enjoy!
Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

In order to get the maximum vase life as possible you have 50% of control, and that is take good care of your roses once they get delivered to you; here are some tips:
Open the box immediately, cut the stems approximately one inch, prepare buckets with cool and fresh water, dissolve the flower food powder, put all bunches of roses (25 roses in each bunch) in the buckets, wait approximately one to two hours to work with the roses. Once they are hydrated, remove the cardboard that comes along the rose buds, and arrange the flowers using a clean vase with fresh and clean water, remove all the leaves that are below the water level, this will help to reduce the build up of bacteria. (Leaves left underwater will rot and bacteria will build up, shortening the life of the roses).
Keep your roses away from sunlight or other heat sources; the cooler the temperature, the slower the roses will open.
The following day, you should replace the water of the vase, and put fresh water; after day two, you could cut the stems again approximately one inch, and change the water; and so on. By following these steps very carefully you could obtain the maximum vase life possible.

Uses of Fresh Rose Petals

There are many ways of using rose petals; we are going to talk about two ways to use rose petals. Nowadays it is more and more common to buy fresh rose petals for weddings celebrations, petals are also used for aromatherapy.
Fresh rose petals represent love and happiness; therefore, they are frequently sprinkled to the floor for the bride, or to the newlyweds. In many cases the rice that was once thrown at the end as the happy new couple was leaving to go on the honeymoon, has now been replaced by rose petals. We commonly see rose petals being used by flower girls too. Other rose petals are also used to decorate the guest tables, or the main entrance of the house where the event is being held.
Aromatherapy, also known as personal therapy, is another area using rose petals. There is a relaxing therapy made with rose scents and they use petals in candles, lotions, bath oils and perfumes during therapy. Spas are using petals more and more, since very often they rub the customer with the relaxing scent of a rose petal. The rose scent if one of top rated smell that is purchased for candles and home fresheners.
There are many other usages of rose petals, and the list is endless, but these two are the most common and important usages of fresh rose petals. Please share with us if you have any other ideas!

The Wedding Planning
The bride typically drives the wedding planning. She insists on a customized and personal experience with vendors. 90% of brides complete the planning themselves and do not hire a professional planner. They approach wedding planning like a business transaction and will solicit competitive bids from several vendors and have high expectations for the vendors that they choose to work with.
Wedding Flowers are typically purchased 2 – 5 months before the wedding. The time frame is usually earlier in the planning process when a florist is hired and a contractual agreement is involved.
Brides are doing much of their wedding planning while they are at work. The busiest days and times of the week for wedding sites are during the week and during the day. While at work, planning over the Internet is more frequently used rather than phone calls because it is easier to discreetly browse the web.
Wedding planning is done over a long time period. Brides have months to make their decision, not minutes. They’re not likely to need to view a site on their mobile phone. They typically wait until they get home or to the office.
The instant nature of digital communications has led to a certain level of impatience. If the bride emails a vendor, she expects a quick answer. They are looking for personalized responses, and not an automated response that is not customized to her.
Couples that are getting married are generally in their 20s and are very savvy digital content consumers. The brides especially are heavy users of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace; so for wedding planning they use sited focused on this market. They also use bridal magazines to generate ideas for their weddings.

How to make a Rose Wedding Bouquet

As soon as you receive your fresh roses, open the box and place each bunch (with 25 roses each) on buckets with fresh and cool water; without removing the cardboard that comes around the buds. Leave the roses in water at least for 2 hours; roses need time to hydrate before they are ready to be used; make sure you dissolved the flower food on the water (this will help your roses to better hydrate).
Once your roses are hydrated, you should open the cardboard that comes along the buds, and carefully remove all the rubber bands. Choose the best roses out of the bunch, then cut the end of the stems like about 3 inches. Place all the flowers together using “floral tape” (approximately 20 roses). Once they are taped together cut the edges if you prefer a shorter bouquet.
Then with a ribbon, cover all the floral tape, do two rounds preferably, then hold it using pins so it won’t fall. Then once that is done, use hair spray over your roses, to maintain them stick and strong until ready to be used.
You can choose the color of your roses for your bouquet based on your wedding colors; generally wedding bouquets could be made out of white roses, but there is no rule on this; also make sure the color of the ribbon combines with your wedding colors. You can add green fillers to your bouquet if you want, for example baby’s breath or green leaves.
If you need help in choosing rose color combination, please don’t hesitate to contact us, we will be more than happy to help you with that!

How to take care of your roses
1. As soon as you receive the roses, place all the bunches in buckets with cool and fresh water (leave the cardboard around the buds) for at least 1 hour before using the roses (roses need time to hydrate).
2. Store your flowers in a cool place; away from sunlight or other heat sources (never use freezers, or home refrigerators) while the roses are hydrating.
3. Once you are ready to arrange your roses, open the cardboard (around the buds) and cut the stems of the roses diagonally, at least 1 inch, with a sharp knife. (Do not let the cut edge dry up before placing the rose into the container with water).
4. Always use a clean vase.
5. Always use cool clean and fresh water to fill the vase.
6. Dissolve the “Flower Food” powder, included in the box, in the water (please follow instructions on the back of the flower food package).
7. Remove all the leaves that are below the water level; this will help to reduce the build up of bacteria. (Leaves left underwater will rot and bacteria will build up, shortening the life of the roses).
8. Remove the outside petals (if you want).
9. It is recommended to change the water of the vase and to cut the stems once every two days. Keep your roses away from sunlight or other heat sources; the cooler the temperature, the slower the roses will open.
10. Enjoy your Roses!
